The article mentioned states that there is still controversy and studies being conducted in reference to the memory of childhood abuse. Do repressed memories actually surface at some point in time? That is the question that the researchers are addressing in this article. The research is stated as being hard to discuss because it’s not a practice to subject a victim of abuse to tests to uncover the memories. It could prove to be quite traumatic. So researchers are trying to find other ways to develop their theory. It is stated that children understand and respond to trauma very different than adults. Trauma in childhood is stated to possibly lead to problems with memory storage and retrieval processes. There are many instances of childhood abuse and many people who seek counseling for these types of issues. During therapy sessions, the question of memory retrieval does not enter into the equation. Most clinicians deal with their patients and help them work through their psychological issues and don’t question them as being untruths. The American Psychological Association has given the following advice to anyone seeking psychotherapy services: 1. Know that there is no single symptom that indicates a person is a victim of childhood abuse. There has been no scientific evidence that states that there are particular symptoms associated with this type of abuse. 2. Therapists should not approach recovered memories as true or false. 3. Be wary of therapists that offer instant gratification for childhood abuse issues. 4. See a licensed practitioner with experience in the area that requires help. And inquire as to the types of treatments. Finally, a competent psychotherapist will not attempt to guide or lead the conversation. They will listen to the facts as they are reported and be careful to ensure the patient lets the information flow. Breakups can be rough. Everyone has gone through the heartbreaking fact that the love that was once between them and a lover may not be there anymore. Many songs and poems describe breakups perfectly, but the song and poem I used in this paper seems to hit the nail on the head. These to works are similar in ways, yet different as well. These works seem to match up yet also contradict each other in ways, not to mention that they are Michael Drayton wrote â€Å"Come Let Us Kiss and Part† as a Sonnet, which is made up of fourteen lines of poetry. He utilized an alternating rhyme scheme, which is shown as abab cdcd. The poem includes three quatrains and one couplet. This is associated as a Shakespearean sonnet. The quatrains all have full rhyme, and in the couplet at the end of the poem, he uses an eye rhyme in the following line: â€Å"Now if thou wouldst, when all have given him over, From death to life thou mightst him yet recover.† The song â€Å"Many Shades of Black† by The Raconteurs includes only three quatrains, and uses an alternating rhyme scheme in the first two quatrains while the chorus utilizes a full rhyme scheme. The theme of the poem and song help create the mood of it by showing that breaking up with someone can be a horrible experience depending on the circumstances. Africans in the Berlin Conference The Berlin Conference of 1884-1885 established most of the borders of contemporary nation-states on the African continents today. The Conference set in motion the â€Å"scramble for Africa. † Out of the 14 African states no African leader was present at the conference to assert claims to territory and to agree to regulations on trading. The boundaries in Africa, drawn during the Berlin Conference, greatly attributed to the political unrest in Africa. The European powers had to send expeditionary forces to pacify what were called their African â€Å"spheres of influence. † This process was bloody and ugly due to the amount of Africans fighting back. These pacifications lasted all the way up to World War 1. These uprisings caused anarchy in some places in Africa. Only Ethiopia successfully kept their freedom militarily. But all across Africa, hundreds of polities large, and small fought to destroy these superimposed boundaries.
